DNS (Domain Name System)

A hierarchical and decentralized naming system used to translate human-readable domain names (such as www.exampledomain.com) into IP addresses (such as 123.4.5.6) that computers use to identify and communicate with each other over the internet. DNS acts as a directory service, enabling users to access websites and services using easily memorable names instead of numerical IP addresses. When a user enters a domain name into their web browser, DNS servers perform a series of lookups to resolve the domain name to its corresponding IP address. This process involves querying various DNS servers, including recursive resolvers, authoritative name servers, and root servers, to obtain the correct IP address and direct the user to the appropriate website or service. DNS is crucial for the functioning of the internet, ensuring that users can efficiently access and navigate online resources.

Dedicated IP

A dedicated IP is an exclusive IP address, offering better reputation control, consistency, and custom authentication. It improves deliverability but shared IPs can benefit smaller or new senders.

Deliverability

Email deliverability is the ability to reach inboxes instead of spam. It depends on sender reputation, content quality, authentication (SPF, DKIM), and list hygiene, ensuring marketing emails are received.

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)

DKIM is an email authentication method that uses a digital signature to verify sender identity and prevent spoofing. It enhances security, improves deliverability, and protects domain reputation.

DMARC (Domain-Based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance)

DMARC is an email authentication protocol that prevents spoofing and phishing by enforcing SPF and DKIM policies. It improves security, deliverability, and brand protection while providing authentication reports.

IP (Internet Protocol)

IP is a communication protocol that assigns addresses to devices, enabling data transmission and routing over networks, ensuring data packets reach the correct destination efficiently.
